Thomas Mansell studied English at Clare College, University of Cambridge, graduating with a double first in 2000. He went on to Trinity College, Dublin, taking an M.Phil. in Anglo-Irish Literature. After returning to his hometown, he enrolled at the London Consortium to take an M.Res. in Cultural Studies and Humanities, and wrote his Ph.D. thesis Samuel Beckett and Music: Incarnating the Idea under the supervision of Professor Steven Connor.
Thomas also teaches piano at the North London Conservatoire – a private music school guided by Kodály’s principles – and has taught pre-sessional academic English at the Institute of Education, University College London. He has particular interests in Samuel Beckett and Irish literature, musico-literary studies and other forms of interdisciplinarity, literature in translation, and proverbs and sayings.
