Szilvia received a degree in Cultural Anthropology and American Studies from Eötvös Loránd University and is currently a PhD student at Semmelweis University with a topic in medical anthropology. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to work on her dissertation at the University of California, San Diego, which she will begin in 2017. Szilvia is a lecturer at Eötvös Loránd University (cultural anthropology) and a regular guest lecturer at Semmelweis University (medical anthropology, medical sociology). Szilvia’s research topics within medical anthropology include therapy choice, complementary and alternative medicine, and the paradigm of embodiment. In her free time she enjoys playing floor hockey, watching movies, and backpacking, with a special penchant for Scotland.
