Márton graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest in 2007 with a MSc in Geography. He received his PhD in Human Geography from the same university in 2012. His main research interests are economic geography (and within that, labour geography), spatial processes of the economic transformation in Hungary after 1990, as well as critical urban studies (mostly with empirical work in Budapest). As a research fellow at the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2008 he has taken part in different basic and applied research projects. He is also a member of two informal groups founded by young social scientists, the Public Sociology Working Group ‘Helyzet’ and the Collective for Critical Urban Research, both based in Budapest and aiming to understand and change the world around us for better.
