Mitya has studied gender studies at Central European University and philology at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine, and has completed short research stays at the University of Helsinki, Finland, and Södertörn University, Sweden. They earned their MA at CEU and are currently completing a PhD on how gender and embodiment were thought and written in the Russian avant-garde literature and philosophy of the 1930s. Their academic interests include Soviet and Russian studies, affect studies, human and the non-human, women’s literature and canon formation, biopolitics, and queer theory. They enjoy painting, running a small blog about rare and old Ukrainian words, learning new things, and long walks.
