Luca Szemetová is currently doing her PhD in Film Studies with the project on the use of archival footage in Hungarian documentary films across three different socio-political contexts. She did her BA in English and American Studies at Charles University in Prague. After obtaining her MA in Nationalism Studies at the Central European University, Hungary, she moved to Scotland to do her second master’s in Film Studies at the University of St Andrews. Her research interests include the intersection of nationhood and cinema, post-socialist identity politics in visual media, and found footage appropriation in documentary films. In her free time, she enjoys learning new languages, hiking, and working on amateur film projects.
