Katherine is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Criminology at the University of Hull, in the UK. Her PhD focuses on extreme right social movements in both the UK and Hungary. Katherine’s academic path started quite differently, however, as she was awarded her BSc in Anthropology (with emphasis on Archaeology and Biological Anthropology) from Lakehead University in Canada. She then went on to achieve an MA in Medieval Studies from the Central European University where she studied the dentition of medieval populations. Her second MA is also in biological anthropology, from the University of Colorado in Boulder, USA. Katherine has always been interested in interdisciplinary research, but the decision to change disciplines came when she began to research her family’s history with respect to the Holocaust. Her studies in Holocaust history and Race Theory have led to her current focus on right wing extremism and hate groups where she aims to acquire a deeper understanding of what drives people to believe in these ideologies. In her free time, Katherine enjoys swing dancing, Crossfit when she’s feeling energised, and visiting her friends and family around the world.
