Herta’s ambition is to combine teaching and research in social sciences with activism on human rights and equality. At Central European University (CEU), she earned a PhD in sociology and social anthropology and an MA in gender studies, and she holds a BA in economics from the Budapest University of Economics (now Corvinus University), where she teaches gender and organisation. Herta is one of the founders of Hungary’s first hotline for victims of domestic violence, and she has volunteered with several NGOs. She worked as a researcher at the CEU Center for Policy Studies and is currently working for the Open Society Foundations as a senior program manager at the Human Rights Initiative.
