Gergely Olt is a junior researcher at the Research Centre for Social Sciences, Institute for Sociology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, currently a predoctoral fellow at the Doctoral School in Sociology ELTE with teaching duties. He has MA degrees in economy and sociology, spent one semester in Utrecht University with Erasmus Scholarship and one semester in Berlin at IRS with Erasmus Internship. The topic of his doctoral thesis is tourism gentrification and the effects of night time tourism in urban changes with special interest in the effects of different historical, institutional, and real estate market contexts on changing inner city areas. His broader research interest is contextuality and revision of universal assumptions in political economy on the example of post-socialist transformation. He participated in several Hungarian research projects as a research assistant and in one international research programme ‘Sustainable production, consumption, communication’ funded by Norwegian Fund (2009-2011). His non-academic interest is contemporary popular music focusing on electronic music.
