During her undergraduate years at the Eötvös Loránd University, Eszter chiefly focused on South Asian languages such as Sanskrit, Hindi, and Urdu, and took interest in South and Southeast Asian art history. Following that, she obtained her Master’s degree from Cultural Heritage Studies and specialized in Religious Studies at the Central European University. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in South Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, and learns Thai at SOAS, University of London. Her research focuses on the contemporary utilization of early Buddhist sites, especially in the Thai national imagination and cultural memory practices. Her dissertation on the topic won the Best Religious Studies MA Thesis Award for the Academic Year 2019/2020. Besides, she is an ice dance coach and prepares Basic Novice and pre-Novice competitors for both national and international championships. In her free time, Eszter enjoys listening to electronic music, visiting cafés with her friends, doing yoga, cooking and tasting Italian food, and traveling around the world.
