Dávid Komáromy won a bronze medal at the 35th international Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) in Athens in 2003. He studied Philosophy, Literature and Chemistry at ELTE Budapest between 2003-2010. After graduation he continued his Chemistry studies at the Freie Universität Berlin as a DAAD fellow. In 2012 he obtained his MSc from Chemistry in the group of Christoph A. Schalley, where his research focused on supramolecular mass spectroscopy. Afterwards, he started a PhD at ETH Zürich, but the research topic did not really fit his interests, so he quit and started a new PhD at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the group of Sijbren Otto, working in the emerging field of systems chemistry and de novo life. After obtaining his PhD in 2019, he returned to Hungary, where he is now working as a module leader and mentor at the Milestone Institute, as well as a bartender at Kisüzem. Dávid mentored several high school and university students in chemistry, and has a teaching experience of more than 4 semesters. He contributed to the preparation of Hungarian students for IChO and authored theoretical problems as the member of the Scientific Committee at the 40th IChO in Budapest.
