Dániel obtained his PhD in theoretical physics in 2005 at Leiden University in the Netherlands. As part of his PhD studies he spent one academic year at the University of Cambridge completing Part III of the Mathematical Tripos with Distinction. He then worked as a researcher at the University of Wuppertal in Germany for two years, followed by another two years spent at the University of California San Diego, also as a researcher. In 2009, he moved back to Hungary and became a senior research fellow at Eötvös Loránd University. Since 2011 he has been an assistant professor at Eötvös Loránd University. In addition, he has done stints as a visiting scientist at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Princeton and the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
