Balázs was awarded a PhD from Eötvös University, studying the formation of spatial representations in the hippocampus. In 2011 he was awarded a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship to the University of Cambridge where he studied the role of nonlinear dendrites in spiking networks. In 2014 he worked in the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge modelling the response of cortical neurons to synaptic stimuli with complex spatio-temporal structure. He is currently working in the MTA Institute for Experimental Medicine on the role of hippocampal single neuron and network computations in memory and spatial navigation.
