Ariadne Collins was awarded a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Policy (Summa Cum Laude) in May, 2017 from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. She also holds a Masters in Research (MRes) in International Environmental Policy and Politics (Distinction) from the University of Westminster, London and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Guyana. Her doctoral research focuses on understanding how ideas of development are constructed around the implementation of the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) initiative in Guyana and Suriname. Through her research, she explores ideas of development, neoliberalism and power relations and the manner in which these concepts intersect in neo-liberal approaches to managing the global environment, such as REDD+.
