AJ’s academic background lies in gender, politics and international relations. During his
undergraduate studies, he embarked on several competitive scholarships and research
opportunities in academia and think tanks. He also worked and volunteered in the civil
sector at various feminist and LGBT organizations, and still plays an active role in some of
them. His experiences led him to the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna and
Budapest, where he obtained his Master of Arts degree with distinction from the
Department of Gender Studies. His research interests include social movements, ethnic and
queer studies, transnational networks, and equality policy. In his spare time he can be found
jamming to new wave music and reading underground comix.
