This module is designed to prepare senior students for their interviews at Oxford or Cambridge, as part of their applications for psychology or linguistics courses. The course is heavily discussion based. Rather than provide facile “right” answers, the course seeks to convey a sense of the rich methodological and conceptual complexity of the discipline through an understanding of historical and philosophical problems lying at the foundation of the discipline, problems such as the nature of consciousness, embodiment, and mental representation and how they can be studied scientifically.
