What is modern physics? Literally speaking, we might consider it simply the natural philosophy that is closest to us in time. But the field of physics does not progress so neatly: some results are fairly useful and some are completely revolutionary. And it is these ‘recent’ revolutions that this course seeks to cover. Particularly, we explore the ideas around relativity, quantum mechanics and atomic physics. In fact, this course will show you that it would be a mistake to rely on time. How close or how far away these events are is actually not so well defined.
