Key ideas of modern mathematics are presented at the most basic level possible. These are:

– power series from several points of view;

– differential equations as an applied mathematical tool;

– statistical analysis of data.

These are important in themselves but we shall provide ways that connect them. Each has applications in the others.

We will cover important computer science concepts, like sorting, data structures and matchings.

One of the main goals of the course is to introduce students to these concepts. However a second goal is to train them to consciously broaden their own scope.

As the covered topics are one of the most important part of Mathematics for higher education in the UK, the module is highly recommended for those wishing to study Mathematics, Physics, Engineering and Engineering. Students interested in related fields such as natural sciences are also welcome.
