The module aims to familiarize students with the basics of statistical research and data analysis in social and psychological sciences, focusing on frequentist statistics. The material comprises the subjects of scales, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics including independent and repeated measure t-tests, one- and two-way ANOVAs, effect sizes, and correlational analysis. In addition, the course will also introduce the statistical software JASP and have the students conduct practical data analysis with the concepts and methodologies learned. Finally, the course will aim to drive home the underlying theory behind frequentist statistics, as well as some of its limitations and most often received points of criticism, for which possible remedies will be offered.
