This module invites students to reflect on the craft of writing creative prose (fiction, memoir or narrative nonfiction). It will take you on a journey of reflective, close reading, turning the insights gained into practical writing assignments. We will cover point of view, narration, plot, look at experience-driven writing like reportage, as well as world building in speculative fiction. You will learn to read better in order to write better, and will compose your own work of fiction or narrative nonfiction. You will give and receive constructive feedback, and work on getting a first draft to publishable text. The module is recommended for those who wish to study English or other languages, Publishing, Journalism, Broadcasting, Creative Writing, but anyone who plans a career working with texts is welcome.
