The aim of the module is to give an overview on the basic principles of astronomy and astrophysics. Each class will cover a distinct area of astronomy from celestial mechanics to cosmology, where students will learn how we have explored the universe as well as what are the current challenges and unsolved problems. The module does not require a deep knowledge of physics and mathematics, so it is accessible to a wider audience. After the module, students will be invited to deepen their knowledge by taking part of the study group organized by the module leader to prepare them for a possible participation in the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.
