The MAT (Mathematics Admission Test) is a well-established mathematics examination primarily used by Oxford or Imperial College London and University of Warwick as part of their conditional offer for candidates wishing to study undergraduate mathematics or Computer Science.

The CTMUA (Cambridge Test of Mathematics for University Admission) is a pre-interview admissions test for applicants to the Computer Science undergraduate course at the University of Cambridge. It is one of the elements admissions tutors use to decide whether to invite a candidate for an interview. The test is designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate that you have the essential mathematical thinking and reasoning skills needed for a demanding undergraduate course.

This module provides an introduction to problem solving through carefully selected MAT and CTMUA questions. It introduces mathematical ideas which you may not have been taught at school, and shows how some of the formulae commonly used in A-levels are derived.

Each module consists of a selection of MAT and CTMUA questions, together with hints and solutions. The modules also contain some topic notes which consist of useful formulae you should be aware of, together with some general hints and advice.
