Engineering Lab: Medical devices

The purpose of this course is to give students a basic knowledge of medical implant development processes and the related regulatory field. Students will learn about the most important requirements for implants and their materials, the most common types of metallic implants and last but not least, quality- and risk management. In addition to theoretical education, the course focuses on practice as well as real implants can be seen and touched during the classes. The course can be useful for those interested in both engineering and life sciences, as it builds on both disciplines, or it may be appropriate for those who want to gain a little insight from one area to another. The course can be completed without any special knowledge.
