The course intends to give an introduction to the fundamentals of cognitive psychology, focusing on basic topics such as perception, social cognition, language acquisition and human memory. Special focus will be put on universal aspects of the human mind, but the course will also touch on individual cognitive differences. In addition to theoretical discussions, the students will also be introduced to different research methods used in the field. As learning outcomes, we expect students to have by the end of the course (i) a basic understanding of a range of scientific questions being explored in the field, (ii) how these questions have been explored so far (i.e. the experimental methods employed) and, finally, (iii) knowledge of key findings from the field of cognitive psychology.
