The aim of this module is to give an introduction to Thermodynamics, and to related modern concepts like Universality, Complexity and Emergence.
In the first part we will learn about the classical concepts related to phenomenological thermodynamics, and engineering applications, while in the second part a more modern description is given based on statistical physics. In the end of the course more general concepts will be discussed, which gain popularity not only in physics and engineering, but for instance in biology, social sciences and finance.
The course can be highly beneficial for students planning to study on STEM fields, but it can be beneficial for anybody who will face with complex systems in the future (including biology, economics, and even social sciences).
