The social sciences tutorial is a lively, interactive debate and discussion centred module that focuses on developing a broad understanding of fundamental issues in politics, culture and society as well as help students gain a sense for how these issues can be tackled and studies. The tutorial is structured around exploring questions that range from the role and relationship of the state and market, questions of equality and individual freedom, current affairs and their historical explanations, notions of morality and justice, social science epistemology and methods as well as notions of cultural difference and otherness. The aim of the course is to help student develop their reasoning skills and mobilise the knowledge they gain from their readings and essay writing in order to become able to deploy the above in a competitive academic setting.
