Key ideas of modern mathematics are presented at the most basic level possible. These are:
– power series from several points of view;
– differential equations as an applied mathematical tool;
– statistical analysis of data.
These are important in themselves but we shall provide ways that connect them. Each has applications in the others.
We will cover important computer science concepts, like sorting, data structures, matchings.
One of the main goals of the course is to introduce students to these concepts. However a second goal is to train them to consciously broaden their own scope. This module is especially useful for Senior students applying for mathematics and/or computer science.
