The Advanced Life Sciences tutorial aims to prepare students for Oxbridge interviews by walking through the main topics that might come up in such situations, including physiology, cell and molecular biology, classical and molecular genetics, neuroscience, evolution and ecology. The tutorial will also help students understand the basics of current scientific discourse by introducing them into hypothesis testing, the notion of statistical significance, analysing data presented and drawing conclusions from them. The tutorial will be conducted in an interactive, discussion-based teaching format allowing students to develop verbal reasoning and analytic thinking skills. The course is aimed at students interested in applying to biology, biochemistry, medicine, veterinary science, biomedical science and related fields.
