Why do certain countries develop faster than others? Should a country have more debt and spend money now, or is an increasing debt always harmful? Is it really so bad when prices are going up? Why do we have unemployment?

Through the discussion of the measurements of national income, price changes, the monetary system and economic development, we will discover the key issues related to understanding the economy as a whole. The module will also provide an overview of debates concerning monetary and fiscal policies, discussing the impact of these on economic output, investment, inflation, exchange rates, or unemployment.

As this is an introductory module, there are no prerequisites. The module will help students interested in Economics, Finance, Business, International Relations/Political Science, History and Geography to better understand how national economies operate.
