This module is concerned with the most interesting and recent findings of physics: the theory  of special relativity, quantum mechanics, quantum field theory and its applications. We will discuss selected topics from particle physics and cosmology as well. The module aims to present students with the concepts of modern physics, which are necessary to appreciate current debates  in the field. As these topics are much beyond the scope of Oxbridge interview questions and admission tests, the module is not a direct preparation for such an application and cannot replace the knowledge in Mechanics and Electromagnetism. In addition to learning about the advances in modern physics, the module helps to improve the students’ problem solving skills as well.
