Major aim of present course is to offer an overview on current discussions about space, place and power in Human Geography, with special attention to politics of space in contested geographical spaces and/or multiethnic environment. The course will touch upon topics like social production of space, space appropriation strategies, politics of symbolic spaces and place identity. By analysing series of international, regional and local case studies the course wish to reveal approaches, research methods and points of analysis applied in Human Geography. The course wish to show how geographical research is carried out in practice thus it includes fieldwork, analysis of results in groups and individual presentation of findings.
