Questions of the Modern

The Milestone Senior Year History module will aim to chart and survey various accounts of Modernity as a concept and phenomena, from its origins in the Age of Discovery through to the development of capitalism, revolutions and the rise of European Empires. It will aim to show both the dark side of the ‘modern’ as it came to be crucial to the horrors of the 20th century. During this exploration, students will gain a stronger understanding of history as a discipline, as a form of writing and as a particular way to say, judge and write truths about the past.
