The aim of the course is to broaden and deepen students’ knowledge in physics, and to put the already acquired knowledge into new perspectives. In all lectures general laws of a particular field of physics are stated, explained and applied to various problems. The module helps to understand physics at a deeper level, and highlights general interrelations.
The four double lectures are about the following topics:
1. Conservation laws in mechanics.
2. Image charge method in electrostatics.
3. Scaling and dimensional analysis.
4. Geometric optics: Fermat’s principle; rainbow.
