Milestone students are expected to acquaint themselves with a professional environment through a work placement or internship. Internships allow students to learn how to apply the knowledge they have acquired through the academic modules and mentoring while gaining experience that will help them clarify their future ambitions. This may entail working for a company, an NGO or a research organisation, depending on the respective interests of each student.
Finding an internship placement is primarily the responsibility of the students, but mentors and the Institute’s core staff will support them where possible. Consequently, if a student does not succeed in finding a placement, he or she may seek assistance, first at the mentoring level, and then from the Institute’s established initiatives. Please note that joining official Milestone collaborations with other organisations is only possible upon recommendation from the programme director, and is reserved for the most highly performing and reliable students.
