In this module we will show how matrix methods can be used to analyze the behavior of physical systems that evolve over time. The methods that we will study here have been applied to problems in business, ecology, demographics, sociology, and most of the physical sciences. While studying matrices, we focus on specific vectors and matrices which are probability vectors and stochastic matrices (transition matrices) that are the basics of studying markov chains in stochastic processes. This module will be especially useful for students interested in mathematics, physics, and engineering. Students interested in related fields such as natural sciences are also welcome.
