This module aims to provide an introduction to sociology by outlining and discussing fundamental theoretical and methodological concerns in an interactive form. The module is organized around three fundamental topics of social sciences:
deviance, class and gender. During the sessions we will discuss these classic themes by interpreting approaches present in classic works through the lenses of Antony Giddens „Sociology” and Earl Babbie’s „The Practice of Social Research”. The
sessions are organized around key theoretical and methodological concerns of these wide topics with the aim of pointing out the bridges and interrelations of these areas of social scientific scholarship and research. By the active participation in the
modules students will gain insight into the basic methodological and theoretical approaches in social sciences useful in the course of their further studies in social, political sciences and anthropology.
