As it is part of the Milestone mission to bring together Hungary’s smartest and most talented students, here is a list of some of their achievements this year, in alphabetical order.
Ben Yami Maia – 1st place in English at the National Competition for Secondary Schools (2nd category, bilingual education)
Bíró Soma – 1st place in the National Linguistics Olympiad
Gorka Márton – 2nd place in English at the National Competition for Secondary Schools (1st category, non-bilingual education)
Jaksa Áron – The first Milestone student to be admitted to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
Kovács Dávid Péter – Gold Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad
Marko Gitta – admitted to Bard College, one of the top Liberal Arts colleges in the US, with an outstanding music programme
Merker Iván – Gold Medal at the International Philosophy Olympiad
Perez Lopez Áron Ricardo – Silver Medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad and at the 49th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad; 1st place at the 22nd Youth Science and Innovation Competition; 2nd place in chemistry at the National Competition for Secondary Schools
Petridisz Miklós – Microsoft Imagine Cup 2015 World Semifinalist, with the project ‘Ecorobot’
Somogyi Péter – First Milestone student to be admitted to Hong Kong University, which is one of the best in Asia
Szabó Orsolya – 3rd place in art history at the National Competition for Secondary Schools
Takács Flóra and Wesely Norbert – selected by La femme magazine for the “50 Young Talented Hungarians” programme
Takács Flóra – Silver Medal at the International Biology Olympiad and Silver Medal at the 22nd International Conference of Young Scientists
Valentinyi Anna – 1st place in English at the National Competition for Secondary Schools (1st category, non-bilingual education)
Varjú Dániel – received the ‘Young Talent Award of the Year’ at the annual conference of the Association of Student Researchers; 3rd place in philosophy at the National Competition for Secondary Schools
International Competition for Young Debaters (ICYD) – two of the three Hungarian teams represented in the global finals held at Cambridge University came from Milestone
At the 2015 Budapest International Model United Nations conference, the following Milestone students received awards for their outstanding participation:
- Balázs Réka representing Iraq at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees – Honourable Mention
- Berényi Péter and Sárosi András representing Kazakhstan in the Crisis Security Council – Outstanding Delegation Award
- Für Viola representing the Republic of Chad in the Security Council – Best Delegate Award
- Kőműves Kornél and Gyümölcsös Gergely representing Finland in the Crisis Security Council – Outstanding Delegation Award
- Panyi Róbert representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the World Health Organization – Outstanding Delegate Award
- Pecze Kristóf representing the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the Human Rights Committee – Best Delegate Award
- Sükösd-Kósa Marcell representing Iraq in the Special Political and Decolonisation Committee – Outstanding Delegate Award
- Tamás Mihály representing Iraq in the Counter-Terrorism Committee – Outstanding Delegate Award
